Finishing Up Cassandra

Cassandra WIP - Almost Done Cassandra WIP - Almost Done
Cassandra is pretty-much done. She needs a matte coat and she'll be good to go. Since last time, I did a bit of touch-up and lightened her hair to be more blonde and then finished up her sword. Finally, I mounted her on her final base.

Cassandra

Cassandra WIP Cassandra WIP
Some more work on Cassandra. Finished up her dress and need to do some clean-up work on her bodice for it to be done. Not quite happy with her hair color yet, either, so I'll be trying to lighten that a bit more. Some touch-up and details and she'll be done. I haven't done anything with the two mannequins since they were last pictured.

Cassandra and Mannequins in Progress

0000 - Miniatures - 20120116 - 013

I started work on the two mannequins and Cassandra. In this photo, I've only put on some basic colors to make sure I like the looks. So far, I'm happy with the colors.

Colette's Dancers

Colette's Dancers

After the mechanical doves, I started on the two dancers.  I wanted to do something different from the art on the box and cards, so I went with blues and greens.  I think they both came out well.  I attempted to do a "see through" paint job on the stockings, but failed at it miserably.  After a couple tries the paint was getting too thick, so the got painted on plain.  Maybe some point in the future I'll get the trick down and be able to do the effect.  I think I'm happy with the looks, so they're just waiting for a matte varnish finish to protect them.

Colette's Mechanical Doves

Colette's Mechanical Doves

The first set of miniatures I started on for my Colette crew were her Mechanical Doves. They are now complete except for a matte varnish coat to protect the paint job. I decided to paint each of the three doves a different metallic. So there are silver, bronze, and copper.

The bases were home made using balsa wood and a sculpting tool to form the indents for the wooden stage floor.

A New Start...

I've painted miniatures for years, but never consistently. I've recently started again. This time, painting miniatures from the Malifaux skirmish game. So, I started this blog to keep track of progress. We'll see how long it lasts.

Malifaux first caught my eye about a year ago. I picked up the rule book and the starter box set for Ramos. I did some assembly, but never painted it. The game was interesting, but it didn't grab my interest (at the time) enough for me to dig in. There was also the "small" detail of finding someone to play against.

Since then, a second (and third) rulebook have come out and introduced new crews. The second rulebook had a Colette crew that caught my eye with some interesting rules and striking models. So, I picked up that crew as well. I've started painting that crew recently, and that is where I'll start this blog with.
